The Department of CSE-(Internet of Things & Cyber Security including Blockchain Technology) was established in the year 2022 with a vision of exploring the emerging trends in the areas of IoT, Cyber security, Blockchain Technology and train the students as professionals who can excel in the field and help for the betterment of the individual, community, industry and society. A 360o teaching-learning environment is used by the Department's team of highly skilled and experienced faculty members to impart the necessary skills to the students.In addition to providing curriculum-based formal education, the staff members go above and beyond to prepare the students for the problems that the future market will present. Faculty members are highly motivated to conduct research, and they have a list of publications in reputable journals, conferences, and patents to their credit.

The students are regularly mentored and motivated by the faculty members for the continuous improvement and participation in different activities. Students are driven not simply to achieve academic success but also to do research and develop new ideas. The placement training sessions help the students get better opportunities.

Program Educational Objectives

PEO1: Graduates will possess the ability to apply their knowledge of fundamental engineering, Computer Science in the areas of IoT and Cyber Security.

PEO2: Graduates will have sound intercommunication skills, ethical values and responsibilities to work and serve for the development of the society.

PEO3: Graduates will be able to understand, interpret, model and implement IoT based solutions for real world problems.

    • Program Overview
    • The Department of CSE – (Internet of Things and Cyber Security including Blockchain Technology) was established during the year 2022. The department offers BE program in “CSE-(IoT & CSBT)” with an intake of 60 students. The inaugural admissions for this program were successfully concluded in December 2022. Notably, the program holds approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and graduates receive their degrees from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. The department has been diligent in the creation of essential classrooms, cutting-edge laboratories, and spacious seminar halls to facilitate an enriching learning environment with sufficient volumes of books in the library. With a commitment to excellence, the department is actively attracting top-tier talent for both teaching and research roles.

    • Program Duration – 4 Years / 8 Semesters
    • Eligibility Criteria
    • To be eligible for enrollment in the 4-year Bachelor of Engineering programs at Visvesvaraya Technological University, candidates must meet the following criteria:

      1. Successful completion of the two-year Pre-University Examination (Science) administered by the Karnataka State Pre-University Board or any other examination recognized by the University as equivalent.
      2. Attainment of a minimum aggregate score of 45% in three core subjects: Physics, Mathematics, and one of the following subjects - Chemistry, Computer Science, Biology and Electronics.
      3. Relaxation in the aggregate score requirement is applicable for specific categories:
        • 40% for candidates belonging to SC/ST SC/ST and OBC candidates from Karnataka.

      Meeting these eligibility requirements is essential for admission to the Bachelor of Engineering courses offered by Visvesvaraya Technological University.

      Admission to II year/ III semester Bachelor Degree in Engineering/ Technology (Lateral Entry) shall be open to the candidates who are holders of a diploma or equivalent qualification as recognized by university who have secured not less than forty-five percentage (45%) marks in the final year examination (fifth and sixth semesters) in the appropriate branch of engineering. Provided that, in case of SC/ST and OBC candidates from Karnataka, the minimum marks for eligibility shall be forty percent (40%). Provided further that, all the candidates seeking lateral entry shall also clear prescribed bridge courses as specified by the University.

  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

  3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

  4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

  5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

  6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

  7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

  8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

The Bachelor of Engineering program in CSE (IoT & CSBT) was initiated during the academic year 2022-23,featuring an intake capacity of 60 seats. This curriculum is designed to acquaint students with the functional and operational aspects of IoT, Cyber Security, and Blockchain Technology.

The department boasts well-equipped laboratories furnished with essential software and a dedicated team of qualified and trained staff committed to the teaching and learning process. Our primary objective is to contribute significantly to the holistic development of our students.
