cad_lab

CADD Laboratory

CADD is an electronic tool that enables us to make quick and accurate drawings. CADD has number of advantages over drawings created on a drawing board. CADD extends its power to yet another branch of engineering called computer aided manufacturing (CAM). CADD and manufacturing program are often integrated into one system called CAD-CAM. When the design is finalized, the drawings are brought into a CAD-CAM system that uses numerical data from the CADD drawing for actual manufacturing. There is a separate category of programs called Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) that can use CADD drawing for engineering analysis. The CAE programs have a number of applications in Structural Design, Civil Engineering.

surveying_lab

Surveying Laboratory

The subject provides practical knowledge in the field to set out any Civil Engineering work to Know the principles and methods of surveying using different equipment’s & methods. From Surveying one can able to determine the distance, area using chain, compass and plane table surveying, Recording of observation accurately and Perform calculations based on the observation, Identification of source of errors and rectification methods, Apply surveying principles to determine areas and volumes and setting out curves, Understand the concept of advanced techniques and operation of modern equipment and perform various experiments by using that.

concrete_lab

Concrete Laboratory

The Concrete Laboratory conducts research in many areas related to concrete materials, such as fly ash, slag cement, and alternative cementatious materials with little or no hydraulic cement. The laboratory collaborates with academia, other government agencies, and industry, leveraging expertise in conducting research to address issues of national significance. The Concrete Laboratory is inspected by the Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL) and accredited by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Materials Reference Laboratory.

geo_tech_lab

Geo technical Engineering Laboratory

A typical Geotechnical Engineering laboratory helps in identifying the engineering behavior of geomaterials (soils and rocks) and by products such as fly ash etc. There are different physical, chemical and geotechnical properties determined in the laboratory that is required for identifying the geo materials. This information is used by geotechnical engineer for designing the type of foundations, earthworks such as dams, embankments, tunnels, reservoirs, pavement sub grades, and specialized applications like waste containment systems. The preciseness of such design is entirely based on the experimental information obtained from a geotechnical laboratory. Therefore, geotechnical engineering laboratory has a great role to play in rendering the subsurface a safe and stable load bearing medium.

fluid_mech_lab

Fluid Mechanics Laboratory

Fluids are a key element of study for many engineering disciplines. Fluid Mechanics is of vital importance in energy conversion systems (hydro power, gas turbines, combustion etc.), in process industry (paper, metals, polymers etc.) and for transports (airplanes, ships etc.). The Fluid Mechanics laboratory is actively engaged to reinforce and enhance understanding of the fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics. The experiments here are designed to demonstrate the applications of the basic fluid engineering principles and to provide a more intuitive and physical Understanding of the theory. The all experimental set-ups are designed and developed by the institute according to the Indian standards. The Fluid Mechanics lab is equipped with different flow measuring set-ups such as venturi meter, orifice meter, nozzle, centrifugal head meter, where students can visualize the basic theory of working of the flow meter.

geology_lab

Geology Laboratory

The Purpose of this lab is to expose the student to identify the physical properties of Minerals and Rocks in various Civil Engineering applications, especially during construction major Civil constructions like Dams and Tunnels. At the end of the course, the student will be able to: Understand the role of Geological concepts in Civil Engineering, Evaluate different types of minerals and rock compositions, Understand different geological structures and its suitability for groundwater and building construction, Evaluate subsurface information through geophysical investigations, Apply geological principles in selecting sites for tunnels, dams and reservoirs.

environment_lab

Environmental Engineering Laboratory

The laboratories are designed specifically for environmental engineering research and laboratory instruction. The space is well equipped for physical, chemical and biological experimentation as well as engineering testing of processes on a pilot plant scale. In addition to a full range of research equipment used for environmental analysis of air and water, the laboratories house specialized instruments. The Environmental Engineering Laboratories also support analysis of environmental samples that focus on the fate and processes involved in three main areas of research: organic pollutants, inorganic pollutants, and environmental microbiology.

basic_mat_lab

Basic Material Testing Laboratory

Material testing Lab is used to perform destructive testing of different kind of materials and make the students to get the experience the mechanical characteristics of sample materials on first- hand basis. These laboratories also offer advanced characterisation testing in order to assess the mechanical, physical and chemical properties of materials as well as the quality control of materials and processes.
